Dockrey Apartments Multi-Unit Residential Developments (MURD) have a common heat system, boiler and baseboard radiator systems serve all apartments. It is not possible in cold weather to keep the building at a comfortable temperature if any window is open. Baseboard water pipes running below open windows freeze and crack. A single cracked line shuts down the entire system and everybody is cold until repairs can be made. The cold may crack other pipes or damage property of other tenants To protect the property, and tenants living in the building, all tenants must agree in writing to keep all windows closed during the heating season. Dockrey Apartments MURDs are fitted with air exchange systems, that provide fresh air without open windows and without allowing cold infiltration.
